Nine stranded melon whales have been rescued and three others died naturally

At about 17:30 on June 6, the last melon head whale stranded near Toumen port in Linhai, Zhejiang Province was hoisted and transferred. Where will the nine rescued melon whales go? On July 6, according to the local propaganda department, of the nine melon whales, two were placed in Baisha Bay Park, two in the aquarium and five in a mariculture farm.

Peponocephala (scientific name: peponocephala Electra) is similar to pygmy killer whale in characteristics, but it has a large number of teeth, with 20-26 upper and lower jaws on each side, and a large number of vertebrae, about 80. Without beak, the head expands gradually from the snout. From the top, the snout is pointed. The length of the limb is about 1 / 5 of the body length, slightly bent back, and the end is pointed. The dorsal fin is triangular and lies in the middle of the body, bending backward. The width of caudal fin is about 1 / 4 of body length. The body color is black gray, and the abdomen is slightly light. The upper lip, lower lip, anus and genital fissure are light colored, the eye is dark, the throat has white spots, the front of the navel has light spots, and there are anchor shaped light spots between the two fins. The first three cervical vertebrae healed. The maximum body weight is 275kg.
