Perennial twining herbs, with milk, 60-120 cm long. The root is succulent, subglobose, 1-2 cm in diameter, with light brown yellow surface. Stem slender, upper end branched, slightly purplish. The leaves are ovoid, lanceolate or linear lanceolate, 2-5 cm long and 0.5-1.5 cm wide, apex long acuminate, base obtuse or nearly truncate, entire; petiole short; veins protruding on the back. Flowers solitary, apical; corolla campanulate, light blue purple, about 1.5 cm in diameter, 5 petals, narrowly ovate or ovate lanceolate. Capsule obovate. The seeds are numerous and small. The flowering period is summer and autumn.
