[plant morphology] Guangdong Wanshou bamboo, also known as: mangosteen, yixianxiang, knobby grass, polygonatum odoratum, baizicao, zhuyecao.

Perennial herbs, up to 1 m high. Rhizome short, clustered, many fibrous roots. The stem is thin and branched. Leaves alternate, thin; ovate lanceolate or lanceolate, 5-10 cm long, 1.5-1 cm wide, apex short pointed or acuminate, base round, with obvious parallel veins; petiole short. Umbels are terminal or opposite to leaves, with 2-4 flowers, rarely 5-7 flowers; inflorescence stalk is short, with a leaf like tapetum at the top; flowers are pendulous, white or lavender, bell shaped, 1.5-2 cm long, lobes 6, base spurred; stamens 6; ovary 3-locular. Berries globose, black, flowering in summer.

It grows on hillside, forest or grassland. Distributed in Shaanxi and the south of the Yangtze River.
