Herbs perennial, up to 50 cm tall. Stem tetragonal, upper part slightly branched, puberulent. It has 3 leaflets. The leaves are oblong ovate, apex acuminate or obtuse, base slightly heart-shaped, margin crenate, dark purple above, purplish red below, veins obvious, villous below; petiole long, villous above. Inflorescence is a raceme with 3-8 flowers in each round; bracts are lanceolate; calyx is bell shaped, dark purple, lip shaped, upper lip triangular, lower lip longer than upper lip, 2-lobed; corolla is purplish red, lip shaped; stamen 2, extending out of crown, filament short, connective long, filiform; pistil 1.

Born in the wet and shady place of rock mountain.
