[plant morphology] 1

Perennial herbs, 8-35 cm high, smooth and glabrous. Rhizome short and stout, creeping. Stems erect, 1-3, unbranched, cylindrical, nodeless, 0.5-10 mm in diameter, with longitudinal striations on the surface. Leaf blade rhomboid ovate or broadly rhomboid ovate, 6-16 cm long and 4.5-15.5 cm wide, usually slightly longer than width, sometimes nearly equal in length and width, apex acuminate or acute, base cuneate; main veins 3-5, basal. The pedicel is extracted from the foliage, the flower is single, terminal, the petiole is 0.8-5 cm long; perianth is 6, 3 pieces are green, ovate to long ovate, 1.7-2 cm long, 0.7 cm wide, 3 pieces are usually white, sometimes lilac, ovate, 1.5 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; stamen is 6, 6-10 mm long, filament flat, anther rectangular; pistil is 1, as long as stamen or slightly long, ovary is small 3-locular, surface 6-ribbed, style 3-lobed. Berry ovoid, ca. 2 cm in diam., style persistent. Seeds numerous, ovate, ca. 2 mm, brown. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from July to August.

Born in the shade and wet under the forest. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, Shaanxi and other places.

Rhizome short and thick, dense, most slightly conical fleshy roots. The stem is 30-60 cm in height. The inner perianth is larger, broadly obovate, longer than the outer perianth, white and purple in style. Berries globose, purple. Other characteristics are very similar to Trillium.

It is distributed in Northeast China.
