[plant morphology] Eupatorium odoratum

Perennial herbs. The lower part of the culm lies on the ground or inclines, and roots at the nodes. The erect part is about 40 cm high, and its nodes often have inverted hairs. The leaf sheath is smooth or rough, the upper part is usually shorter than the internodes; the ligule is membranous, 1-2 mm long, and the two sides of the base extend downward to heal with the edge of the leaf sheath; the leaf blade is flat or rolled, lanceolate, rough, 5-20 cm long and 4-6 mm wide. Panicle ovate or oblong, 5-10 cm long, branching thin, angular, 4 cm long; spikelet 3-4 mm long, 1.5 mm wide, with short stalk; spikelet 1-flowered, awnless; glumes degenerated; lemma 5-veined, spine and margin spiny; palea 3-veined, spine with cilium; stamen 6, anther 2.5 mm long. Caryopsis, ca. 2. 5 mm. The flowering and fruiting periods are summer and autumn.

It grows in wet places near water. Distributed in Sichuan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Taiwan, Fujian and other places.
