Perennial herbs. The rhizome is creeping. The stem is scattered or sparsely clumped, thin and weak, flat, sharp, triangular, bald, 10-40 cm high. Leaves narrowly linear, 15 cm long or longer, 1.5-2.5 mm wide, margin sparsely serrate; leaf sheaths short, brown, or with purplish brown spots, the lowest sheath without leaves. The head inflorescence is solitary, oval or spherical, white, 6-9 mm long; bracts are 3-4, leaflike, longer than inflorescence; spikelets are numerous, obovate or lanceolate, oblong, apex acuminate, compressed, about 2.5 mm long, with 1 flower; flower glumes have small tips, with half moon shaped, cockscomb shaped and red spotted wings along the middle of ridge. Stamens 3; style slender. Nuts obovate, flattened, 1.5 mm long, brown. The heading date is from May to August.

It is found in the forest on the hillside and in the wet places in the wilderness. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
