[plant morphology] reticulate vein grape, also known as dayeshan Tianluo.

Liana woody; young branches subcylindrical, white arachnoid pilose, glabrous later. The leaves are heart-shaped or heart-shaped ovate, 8-15 cm long and 5-10 cm wide, usually undivided, sometimes inconspicuous, 3-lobed, with small teeth at the edge, rust colored spider silk hairs along the veins below, raised under the veins, with obvious vein network and white powder on both sides; the petiole is 4-7 cm long. Panicle 8-15 cm long; flowers small, light green; calyx discoid, entire; petals 5; stamens 5. The berry is globose, 7-12 (~ 18) mm in diameter, bluish black with white powder.

It grows in the shrub on the hillside. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places.

[clinical application] to treat chronic osteomyelitis. Use 1 jin of wild grape root, wash, peel off the epidermis, remove the root core, take the skin and mash it like mud (avoid using iron utensil), then add 2 liang of 4 egg white, sesame oil and 0.5 liang of wine (or 95% alcohol) to mix it into paste, and add preservative in summer. When using, apply the ointment on the sterilized cotton pad, apply it to the affected area, and fix it with bandage. Change the dressing once a day until recovery. If there is a fistula, it can be used with drug twist to drain the pus. The general course of treatment is about 1-2 months. For the elderly, frail and patients with a long course of disease, it is necessary to take tonifying qi and blood medicine orally; if the affected area is free from redness and heat, and conscious of deep soreness, and the external application effect of this ointment alone is not obvious, Yanghe Decoction can be taken orally at the same time, so as to promote the deep abscess ulceration, and the dressing can play its role. A total of 35 patients with chronic osteomyelitis were treated, 18 cases were cured and 2 cases were markedly effective. The bacteriostatic test in laboratory proved that the root of S. aureus had strong killing effect on Staphylococcus aureus.
