[plant morphology] Forsythia suspensa

Herbs perennial, up to 30-60 cm tall, glabrous and smooth. Stem cylindrical. Leaves opposite, sessile, narrowly oblong, obovate or ovate elliptic, 5-20 mm long, 2-8 mm wide, apex obtuse, entire, base obtuse, semiamplexicaul, scattered with black oil spots. Cymes terminal or axillary; sepals 5, green, ovate, acute, 4 mm long, with scattered black spots; petals 5, elliptic, 8-10 mm long, alternate with sepals, thick yellow, with black dotted line, slightly twisted; stamens numerous, in 3 bundles, yellow, anthers small, with 1 black spot at the top; ovary 3-locular, yellow, style 3, stigma papillary. Capsule ovate, 3-locular, locular annihilated, ca. 7 mm long. Seeds small, finely reticulate. The flowering period is August. The fruiting period is October.
