Annual aquatic herbs, clustered underwater. Leaf surface, membranous, broadly ovate or round, 4-6cm long, 3-5cm wide, rounded at the front end, deep heart-shaped at the base, turquoise green, smooth, glabrous, radial veins, not obvious; petiole length depends on the depth of water, in shape. The raceme is 10-20 cm long and grows on a few flower stems above the water; the flowers are white, with short stout stalks, arranged into irregular flower rings, with male flowers in the upper ring and bisexual flowers in the lower ring; the petals are ovate and uneven. Achene very flat, winged, wing margin with deep cleft teeth. The flowering period is summer and autumn.
Born in paddy fields or ponds. It is distributed in southwest and south of China.
