[plant morphology] small wax tree, also known as small white wax tree, Ligustrum lucidum.

Semi evergreen shrub, up to 2 m high. Branches are hard and spreading, branchlets and inflorescences are pubescent. Leaves opposite, petiolate, subcleathery, elliptic or obovate, 2-5 cm long, apex obtuse, glabrous. Flowers sessile, clustered at the end of branches, growing into panicles of 10-20 cm, corolla white, lobes 4, as long as the tube, anthers extending from corolla lobes. The drupe is blue black. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from October to November.

It grows in the sunny part of sparse forest on high hillside. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, Shaanxi, Hubei, Yunnan and other places.

2 ml of Ligustrum lucidum injection (equivalent to 4 g of crude drug) was injected intramuscularly twice a day for 2-3 days. 21 cases were treated (6 cases of upper respiratory tract infection, 13 cases of acute Sophora japonica infection, 1 case of pneumonia, 2 cases of infection). The body temperature dropped within 24 hours, the white blood cells returned to normal within 24-48 hours, and the sore throat began to relieve about 48 hours.
