Perennial herbs. The stoloniferous rhizome is long, the apex has the fat spindle tuber, the outer skin is purple brown, has the brown hair or the black brown hairy substance. The stem is 15-95 cm high, sharp triangular, and tuberous at the base. Leaf narrow linear, shorter than culm, 2-5 mm wide; sheath brown, often split into fibrous.
