Stem erect, 10-20m high, 3-8cm in diameter, green, white wax powder when young. The sheath is brownish purple, with pale purple black spots and stripes, and covered with white wax powder; the ear and sheath mouth are all hairless; the tongue is 2 mm high, and the back is hairy; the leaf is narrow and long, banded, 2-8 cm long, 3.5-8 mm wide, apex acuminate. Branches in the lower and uppermost part of the stem are 1 branch per node, and 2-3 branches in the middle. The leaves are lanceolate, 8-17 cm long, 10-23 mm wide, apex acuminate, wedge-shaped contraction at the base, hairy on the midrib, especially near the base, serrate and rough at the margin. The flower branches are leafy, the spikelet cluster is about 5 cm long, with the terminal branch; the spathe is elliptic, about 2 cm long, hairy on the outside, hairy on the edge, with a needle shaped shrunken leaf about 1 cm long at the apex; the spikelet has 2-3 flowers, about 3 cm long, mature in the middle, and 1 glume; the lemma is sharp at the apex; the palea is slightly shorter than the lemma, with 2-lobed at the apex; the stamen is 3, the filaments protrude out of the flower and droop, and the anther is smooth Yellow, linear, 9-10 mm long; ovary ovate smooth, shortly stipitate, style 1, stigma 1 or 2.
