Perennial herb, 25-40 cm high, smooth and glabrous, short rhizome, slender fibrous roots, tufted. The stem is slender and branched at the base. The basal leaf is 3-fold and 3-fold; the stem leaf is usually 2-fold and 3-fold, the leaf length is 7-15 cm; with stipules, without stipules, the leaf sheath is ear-shaped, the edge is fimbriate or ciliary, the petiole is slender; the leaflets are ovoid or nearly round, 0.8-2 cm long and 0.6-1.8 cm wide, the apical leaflets are large, the lateral leaflets are small, the base is round or shallow heart-shaped, the upper part is 3-lobed, with shallow round teeth. Terminal panicle, subcorymbose; bracts ovate, bracteoles linear subulate: flowers small. Sepals 4, suborbicular, white or violaceous, caducous; apetalous; stamens 16-24, upper filament oblanceolate. Lower part filiform: carpel 8-16. Style slightly longer than ovary. Achene fusiform, brown, 8 longitudinal ribs, sessile, style prominent, stigma curved hook shaped. The flowering period is April and the fruiting period is July to August.

It is distributed in Sichuan, Hunan and Guangxi.
