Lianas woody, all glabrous, or pubescence, branchlets cylindrical, sometimes angular. Compound leaves opposite, leaflets 3, leathery or sub leathery, ovate to elliptic or lanceolate, 5-13 cm long, 3-5.5 cm wide, apex acuminate or shortly acuminate, base rounded or obtuse, sometimes cuneate, entire, abaxially with small spots. Cymes 3-branched, or much branched; bracts linear, ca. 2 mm long; calyx small, cup-shaped, margin slightly 5-toothed; corolla white, fragrant, tube 2.5-3 cm long, apex 5-lobed, lobes oblong or ovate oblong, ca. 1 cm long, ca. 4 mm wide; stamens 2; ovary 2-locular. The berry is globose, twin, one of which is usually undeveloped, 0.6-1 cm in diameter. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows in shrubbery, roadside or courtyard. Distribution in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.

Liana woody, similar to upper species. The old branches are smooth and the young ones are pubescent. Leaflets usually 3, elliptic, apex short and acuminate, base cuneate, entire, terminal leaflets 6-10 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, lateral leaflets shorter and smaller.
