[source] it is the seed of Malvaceae. For plant morphology, please refer to "mopancao".

[chemical composition] the oil content of the seed is about 5%. The fatty acids are oleic acid 41.3%, linoleic acid 26.67%, linolenic acid 6.80%, stearic acid 11.17% and palmitic acid 5.08%. It also contains about 1.77% non saponifiable substance, which is sitosterol. The residue contains raffinose.

[function indications] astringent bowel and diuretic.

[prescription selection] ① to treat red and white dysentery: the seeds of mopancaozi, stir fried and ground, one money each time, three times a day, and served with honey soup before meals.

② Treatment of carbuncle, swelling and poison: grind a piece of grass seed, take it with boiling water, and then pound the fresh leaves with honey or brown sugar on the affected area. (the function and indications are listed in the manual of Chinese herbal medicine in Jinjiang, Fujian)
