[chemical constituents] it contains alkaloids and sterols.

[pharmacological action] the water solution of jasmine root (1-8 g / kg) is injected intraperitoneally to frogs, pigeons, rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs. It has sedative and hypnotic effects in varying degrees according to the dosage, while frogs show general paralysis. The results showed that the larger dose inhibited the isolated frog heart and rabbit heart, made the isolated rabbit ear and frog hind limb vascular dilation, inhibited the peristalsis of isolated rabbit intestine, and excited the isolated uterus of rabbits and mice, whether pregnant or not.
