[source / prescription] this product is the dry root of Przewalskia tangutica Maxim. At the end of autumn, when the fruit is ripe, dig it, remove the above ground part, wash it and dry it.

[character] the product is long cylindrical, slightly curved, 10-25cm long, 1.3-3cm in diameter, a few irregular. The rhizome part is short, 2-3cm long, with dark brown or light brown yellow surface. There are several cylindrical stem base marks and a few petiole residual marks at the top, and there are obvious rings near the root head. The main root is stout, the epidermis is light yellow, there are 2-3 branches below the middle, with fine longitudinal wrinkles, and many obvious transverse pores. It is hard in quality, rough and loose in cross section, with white to yellow white chrysanthemum core and radial cracks. It tastes bitter.

[identification]

(1) The powder is light brown. There are many starch granules, single granule is round, quasi round or helmet shaped, navel dot shaped, fissure shaped or cross shaped, and the lamina is faintly visible; compound granule is composed of 2-3 parts. Calcium oxalate sand has many crystals, large, cone-shaped tetrahedron or bird shape, triangle like or quadrilateral, reticulated duct diameter 25-75 μ M. There are many starch granules in parenchyma cells.

(2) Take 0.5g of the powder and put it in a test tube, add 5ml of ether and 2 drops of 10% ammonia water, tightly plug it, shake it, place it for 20 minutes, absorb the ether solution on the glass slide, evaporate it, add 2 drops of iodine potassium iodide test solution, after 2-3 minutes, under the microscope, butterfly wing like reddish brown crystals with a length of 16-26 μ M can be seen.

(3) Take 1g powder of this product, wet it with ammonia water, reflux extraction with 10ml chloroform, filter, observe the filtrate under ultraviolet light (365 nm), there is light blue purple fluorescence.
