Herbs biennial, 15-30 cm high, all with silvery white dense tomentose. Stems tufted, thin and hard. Leaves dense, opposite or 3-whorled, sometimes alternate; leaves narrowly lanceolate, 1-3 cm long, 1-2 mm wide, entire, apex acuminate, base narrow sessile. Inflorescence with glandular hairs, bracts leaflike, flowers solitary in bract axils; calyx tube several as long as lobes, with 10 edges, lobes linear; corolla lip shaped, 2-2.5 cm long, longer than calyx, light red, throat slightly expanded, upper lip galeate curved, 2-lobed, lower lip longer than upper lip, middle lobe longer, throat with 2 grooves; stamens 4, 2-strong, exposed; ovary with incomplete 2-locules, rachis fetal chamber The ovules are numerous. Observation on three dosage forms of pilose antler grass: one syrup: one kilogram of crude drug per 200 ml, twice a day, 10 ml each time.
