Deciduous trees, up to 10 m high. Branchlets glabrous, reddish brown glossy. Leaves usually elliptic lanceolate or elliptic obovate, 6-10 cm long and 3-4 cm wide, apex acute, base gradually narrowed to petiole, margin with dense obtuse fine compound teeth, upper midrib sparsely hairy, lower vein axillary with bundle hair, the rest glabrous; petiole 1-2 cm long, several glandular points. Flowers usually 3 clusters, white, 1.5-2 cm in diameter; pedicel 1-1.5 cm long, glabrous; calyx oblong ovate, glabrous; petals 5; stamens many; pistil with slender style, ovary smooth. Drupe globose ovate, 5-7 cm in diameter, apex apical, base deeply sunk, crevice marked, usually yellow or yellowish green, or reddish. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from July to August.

Living in the roadside or shrubbery. It is often cultivated in gardens. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
