[plant morphology] spatholobus KUNMINGENSIS

Climbing shrub, 2-4 meters high, with pale stem bark. Pinnate compound leaf, 10-20 cm long, with 5-9 leaflets; leaflets oblong, ovate oblong, 2.5-10 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide, papery, apex obtuse, slightly concave, entire, base rounded or obtuse, dark green above, smooth below; reticulate veins on both sides are obvious; petiole 4-5 mm long; stipules 3 mm long, needlelike. Panicle, terminal, weak, pendulous, 5-10 cm long; peduncle with yellow pubescence; flowers numerous, dense, petiole slightly shorter than calyx, with pubescence; bracteoles two, oblong, about 1.5 mm long; calyx campanulate, about 3 mm long, 5-lobed, teeth short and blunt, margin with pale yellow pubescence; corolla bald, dark purple, 13-15 mm long, flag petal slightly shorter and slightly concave than keel petal. The pods are oblate, thin, hard, bald, about 15 cm long. The petals are nearly woody, with 3-6 seeds, oblate. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from November to December.

The effect of decoction is stronger than that of Tincture on rabbit uterus and uterine fistula. 10 g (crude drug) / kg of decoction, 1 g (crude drug) / kg of decoction or 1-4 g (crude drug) / kg of Tincture by intravenous injection can enhance the rhythmic contraction of uterus, and the increase of dosage or the spasmodic contraction of pregnant uterus are more likely to occur. Preliminary analysis showed that the effect of exciting uterus was a direct effect on uterine muscle, and had nothing to do with adrenergic receptor or cholinergic receptor.
