[plant morphology] Cirsium chinense

Perennial herbs, 1-1.5 m high. Stem erect, branched, with spider filiform white pubescence. The middle leaves are elliptic lanceolate, 10-20 cm long and 1-3 cm wide, with irregular edges, split or undivided feathers, spines of different lengths, green on the top, rough on the bottom, spider like white hairs on the bottom, and linear lanceolate on the upper leaves. Inflorescence terminal, slightly drooping after flowering; involucre bell shaped, 1.5-2 cm long, 2-2.5 cm wide; bracts multi-layered, outer bract apex with short spines, inner bract apex membranous, back with a sticky salivary gland, purplish red; flowers all tubular, corolla purplish red, deep 5-lobed, lobes about 3 times as much as corolla tube expansion; stamens 5, anthers connate, top appendages inverted wedge Ovary inferior, stigma 2-lobed. Achene oblong, corolla gray brown. The flowering period is from September to October.

It grows on hillside and roadside. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangxi and Hunan.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1 Liang. External use: tamping.

[prescription selection] 1. To treat metrorrhagia and metrorrhagia: one or two thistle, three coins of Ailanthus altissima bark, three coins of Ailanthus altissima seed. Take it in water.

② Zhiniujian (lower part of scab): thistle, rhubarb, likoucao, loquat root, dog excrement thorn leaf. Mash and apply to the affected area.
