[plant morphology] Caragana Carthami, also known as golden Finch and yellow twig.

Many branches erect dwarf shrubs, about 1 m high. Branchlets ribbed, glabrous. Leaflets 4, pseudopalmately arranged, upper pair usually larger, long elliptic obovate, 1-3 cm long, 4-12 mm wide, apex rounded or slightly concave, spiny pointed, lower veins convex, margin curled, base cuneate, glabrous: stipules sclerotic or finely needlelike; rachis short, ca. 5-10 mm long. The flowers are solitary, 2.5-2.8 cm long; the middle part of the pedicel is jointed; the calyx is nearly tubular, glabrous, about 1-1.4 cm long, 4 mm wide, and the base is oblique; the Corolla is yellow, the keel is white, or pink, and turns red when withering; the flag petal is narrow, oblong obovate; the ovary is striped, glabrous. Pods subcylindric, acute, glabrous, up to 6 cm.

On hillsides, ditches, or shrubs. Distributed in Northeast and Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan and other places.

④ Treatment of drenching turbidity: Red Caragana with Pedicularis, fried soup service.

⑤ Treatment of avalanche: Red Caragana with Rubus, stewed sweet wine service.

⑥ Treatment of impotence and uterine prolapse: Red Caragana with epimedium, deer Chong, decoction.

The flowers of Caragana honghuaensis have the function of excitability.
