[English name] RhizomaDioscoreae Hypoglaucae

[source] this product is the dried rhizome of Dioscorea hypoglauca palibin.

Harvest and dig in autumn and winter, remove fibrous roots, wash, slice and dry in the sun.

[character] the product is irregular sheet with irregular edges and different sizes, and the thickness is about 0.5mm. Some have brownish black or grayish brown skin. Section yellow white or light gray brown, vascular bundles scattered. It is loose and slightly elastic. The taste is pungent and bitter.

[identification] (1) cross section of the product: the outer layer is multi row cork cells. The cortex is narrow, the cells are elongated tangentially, the wall is slightly thickened, and the wall pore is obvious; the mucous cells are scattered, containing calcium oxalate needle bundles. There are limited outer tough vascular bundles and pericarp like vascular bundles in the central column; the cell wall of the parenchyma is slightly thickened with parietal pores, and the cells contain starch granules. The powder is yellow white. Starch grains are round, oval or long oval in shape, 5-32 μ m in diameter and 40 μ m in length, with the shape of umbilical point or fissure; complex grains are few, mostly composed of two parts. There are many sclerenchymatous cells, the walls are lignified, and the pits are obvious. Some of them are similar to stone cells, polygonal, fusiform or quasi rectangular, 40-80 μ m in diameter and 224 μ m in length. The length of calcium oxalate needle bundle is 64-84 μ M.

(2) Take 10g powder, add 100ml water, soak overnight, heat in 60 ℃ water bath for 10 minutes, and filter while hot. The filtrate 2ml was separated into two test tubes. One tube was added with sodium hydroxide test solution 2ml, the other tube added hydrochloric acid solution (1 to 20) 2ml, and the plug was forced to shake for 1 minutes. The foam containing lye tube was several times higher than that containing acid pipe.
