[plant morphology] Pueraria lobata

Annual or biennial herbs, 30-70 cm high. Stem erect, simple, or slightly branched, with white hairs or nearly smooth. The basal leaf is tufted, the kidney is round, about 2.5 cm long and 3 cm wide, with irregular triangular teeth on the edge, slightly hairy on the top and dense white spider silk hairs on the bottom, petiole about 6 cm long, with sheath on the base; the middle leaf is round to broadly ovate heart-shaped, 3.5-4 cm long and 4-4.5 cm wide, apex short pointed, with short petiole; the upper leaf is ovate, smaller. Capitate inflorescence, about 1.2 cm in diameter, arranged in corymbose; involucre campanulate, without bracts; bracts linear lanceolate, margin membranous; ligulate corolla orange yellow, elliptic, about 4 mm long, with 3-5 longitudinal veins, apically entire or 3-toothed; tubular flower about 4 mm long, apically 5-lobed. Achene cylindric, ca. 1 mm, slightly hairy; corolla white, ca. 3 mm. The flowering period is from April to May.

It was born in shady and humid area under forest. It is distributed in East China, Central South China and southwest China.
