[plant morphology] Stellaria japonica

Perennial herbs, 50-80 cm high. The stem is much branched. The leaves are simple, opposite, membranous, ovate or broadly ovate, generally 2.5-5.5 cm long and 1-3 cm wide, apex acute, base subcordate; petiole 5-10 mm long, sparsely pilose, upper leaves often sessile or with very short petiole. Flower terminal branch end or single leaf axil; pedicel slender, hairy; sepals 5, base slightly connate, outside pubescent; petals 5, white, much longer than sepals, apex 2-lobed to base; stamens 10, slightly shorter than petals; ovary oblong, style 5, filiform. Capsule 5-lobed, 2-lobed at each apex. Seeds numerous, suborbicular, slightly flat, brown, with prominent protuberances.

In the field, roadside grass, mountain or wet place. It is widely distributed in the north and south of China.
