Effect of plant morphology on Pteris auriculata

Perennial evergreen herbs, 30-60 cm high. Rhizome nearly erect, with black brown ovate lanceolate and brown subulate lanceolate scales at the base of petiole. Petiole tufted, 15-30 cm long, straw colored, above the base straight to the leaf axis, sparsely black strip scale hair; leaf blade lanceolate, 18-30 cm long, 8-15 cm wide, first sharp, base truncated, 2-pinnate division; pinnae falcate lanceolate, 4-8 cm long, 8-15 mm wide, slightly free, with short petiole, apex acuminate and curved, base asymmetric; pinnules unequal Long oblong margin; with sharp awned teeth, base upward pinnules large and convex, leaves thin leathery, glossy above. Sporangia are scattered between leaf margin and middle rib, round, black, and shield shaped.

It grows in dark valley, under moist forest, by stream and in bamboo forest. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan.
