Herbs perennial, ca. 1 m tall. The whole plant is covered with square hairs. Leaves opposite; elliptic ovate or lanceolate ovate, 3-8 cm long, 1-3.5 cm wide, apex acuminate or acute, margin coarsely serrated, base gradually narrowed, extending downward to petiole; leaf back with glandular dots, veins with pubescence. Inflorescence paniculate, opposite leaf axil or terminal; bracts lanceolate; flowers purple or light red, lip shaped; calyx campanulate, 5-toothed and 10 veined; corolla upper lip reflexed, 4-lobed, lower lip boat shaped, base narrow; stamens 4,2-strong; style 2-lobed. Nutlets broadly obovate, brown, glandular punctate, apically hairy, with persistent calyx outside. The flowering period is from July to August. The fruit period is from September to October.

It is wild in the grass on the hillside. It is distributed in Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan.
