[synonym] betel nut skin (Sun Simiao), big belly hair (Yilin zuanyao), Fu hair (Huiyue medical mirror), betel nut coat (collection of medicinal materials), big belly hair (Pharmacology).

[source] the pericarp of Areca catechu. For plant morphology, please refer to "betel nut".

[collection] the hot fruits were harvested in winter and spring, peeled, loosened, soaked in water, dried in the sun, and then loosened to remove the exocarp.

[medicinal material] the dried pericarp is usually divided into two parts. Those who did not loosen were oval shaped. It is 6-7 cm long, 3 cm wide and 1 cm thick. The exocarp is grayish brown with brown spots and longitudinal cracks. The pericarp is yellow white to grayish yellow fiber, the fiber is arranged longitudinally, the outer layer is loose, the inner layer is thick and brown hairy. The inner wall is concave, brown or dark brown. The surface is smooth and hard shell. The body is easy, flexible and easy to tear vertically. Odorless, light taste. It is better to be yellow and white, flexible and free of impurities.

It is mainly produced in Hainan Island, Yunnan and Taiwan of Guangdong; it is also produced in Guangxi and Fujian.

[prescription selection] ① for the treatment of beriberi, bloated abdominal distension and astringent constipation: one or two pieces of big belly skin (file), one or two pieces of betel nut (file), half pieces of Muxiang (file), two pieces of Mutong (file), one or two pieces of yuliren (dip in the soup and remove the skin, stir fry slightly), two pieces of sanggenbaipi (file), two pieces of Petunia (stir fry slightly). Apply the medicine and sieve it as powder. For each serving, take one cup of water, add ginger for half a minute, blanch onion for twenty-seven inches, fry until six minutes, remove dross.
