Perennial herbs. Rhizome slender, long and transverse, reticulate stele, densely covered with scales; scales ovate lanceolate, light brown at apex, brown on old stem, peltate. The leaves are distant, leathery, narrowly linear, 3-9 cm long and 1.5-3.5 mm wide, with strongly involuted margin. The leaves are covered with stellate hairs at the beginning, and fall off after a long time. The middle ribs are sulcate above and protruding below, densely covered with yellow stellate hairs. The veins are reticulate, and disappear. The leaves are sessile or short stalked, and have joints.
