Uncle CAI
Uncle Cai, surnamed Ji, is known as Cai Shudu. He is the fifth son born to Jichang, King Wen of Zhou, and Taisi. He is the same mother and brother as King Wu of Zhou. He is one of the three supervisors of the early Zhou Dynasty. He was the first emperor of the state of CAI and the ancestor of the surname CAI.
After King Wu of Zhou destroyed Shang, he was granted the title of CAI (now Shangcai, Henan). During the reign of King Cheng of Zhou Dynasty, Cai Shudu and his elder brother Guan Shuxian seized Wu Geng, the son of King Zhou of Shang Dynasty, to revolt, which was soon pacified by Zhou GongDan. Cai Shudu was exiled and eventually died in exile. After the death of CAI Shudu, his son Jihu was also granted the title of CAI Zhong.
Life of the characters
Early experience
Cai Shudu is the fifth son of Jichang, King Wen of Zhou Dynasty, and the brother of Jifa, King Wu of Zhou Dynasty. Cai Shudu's mother's name is Tai Si, surnamed Si. She is the daughter of Shen tribe and the wife of King Wen of Zhou Dynasty. Taisi was industrious in running his family and abided by women's principles, so he was known as wenmu.
Taisi and King Wen of Zhou had ten sons, the eldest son boyikao, the second son Jifa, King Wu of Zhou, the third son Guan Shuxian, the fourth son Zhou GongDan, the fifth son Cai Shudu, the sixth son Cao shuzhenduo, the seventh son Ying Shuwu, the eighth son huoshuchu, the ninth son Kang Shufeng and the tenth son ran jizai.
Cai Shudu's ten brothers have been deeply taught by their mother, Dasi, since they were young, so they have never done anything against common sense and absurd.
The state of CAI
After the death of King Wen of Zhou, because of the early death of CAI Shudu's elder brother Boyi Kao, King Wu of Zhou, Cai Shudu's second elder brother, succeeded him. In the 11th year of King Wu of Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC), King Wu of Zhou Dynasty perished the Shang Dynasty and established the regime of Zhou Dynasty, which is known as the Western Zhou Dynasty in history.
After the establishment of the Zhou Dynasty, in order to consolidate the political power of the Zhou Dynasty, King Wu of Zhou implemented the system of enfeoffment, and granted the meritorious officials, clans and the descendants of the sages, so he enfeoffed the land to his third brother, Guan Shuxian, to establish the state and live in the city; he enfeoffed the land of CAI to his fifth brother, Cai Shudu, to establish the state of CAI and live in Shangcai (now Shangcai County, Henan Province). King Wu of Zhou granted the adherents of Shang Dynasty to Wu Geng (Lu Fu), the son of King Zhou of Shang Dynasty (emperor Xin), who had the same status as the princes, so as to hold the sacrifice of his ancestors. Because Wu Geng was not yet convinced, King Wu of Zhou let Cai Shudu, Guan Shuxian and Huo Shuchu assist and supervise Wu Geng to govern the adherents of Shang Dynasty.
Three Guards
After the death of King Wu of Zhou, the crown prince Jisong succeeded to the throne for King Cheng of Zhou. When King Zhou Cheng ascended the throne, he was too young to deal with government affairs independently. At that time, the Zhou Dynasty was in the beginning, and the political situation was not very stable. Therefore, Zhou GongDan, Cai Shudu's fourth brother, became Regent of the state and took the position of King Zhou Cheng to deal with state affairs. Cai Shudu, Guan Shuxian and Huo Shuchu suspected that Zhou GongDan would usurp the throne. They were indignant and spread rumors everywhere. In the second year of King Cheng of Zhou Dynasty (1041 BC), the three supported Wu Geng to revolt.
In the fourth year of King Cheng of Zhou Dynasty (1039 BC), Zhou GongDan marched the rebels in the name of King Cheng of Zhou. Soon after, Zhou GongDan put down the rebellion, killed Wu Geng and Guan Shuxian, and exiled Cai Shudu to Guolin (in the area of Chanhu temple in the northwest of CAI's old city). When Zhou GongDan exiled Cai Shudu, he was only given 10 cars and 70 prisoners as his entourage. Cai Shudu died in exile.
Main achievements
After the establishment of the Zhou Dynasty, King Wu of Zhou granted Cai Shudu the land of CAI and established the state of CAI. King Wu of Zhou granted the adherents of Shang Dynasty to Wu Geng (Lu Fu), the son of King Zhou of Shang Dynasty. Because Wu Geng was not yet convinced, he let Cai Shudu, Guan Shuxian and Huo Shuchu help and supervise Wu Geng to govern the adherents of Shang Dynasty.
Historical evaluation
Sima Qian's records of the Historian: "there is no sufficient record of the chaos caused by CAI. However, King Wu of the Zhou Dynasty collapsed, and there were few Chengwang. The whole world was suspicious. The ten people who belonged to Chengshu and Yaji, the younger brothers of Tongmu, were the assistants. The reason was that the princes died in Zongzhou, so the words of the aristocratic family were attached. "
"The younger brother of King Wu, Guan, CAI and Huo. Zhou Gongju is the prime minister, and the rumor is a work. "The wolf makes it difficult, and the owl makes it difficult."
