Multiple cases of armed robbery involving Chinese citizens have occurred in some areas of the Philippines, and the Chinese Embassy has issued a reminder. According to the "Chinese Embassy in the Philippines" on December 15th, the security situation in some areas of the Philippines has been unstable recently, with multiple cases of armed robbery, drug robbery, currency exchange fraud, and theft involving Chinese citizens, causing serious losses to the personal and property safety of the parties involved. In light of this, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines once again solemnly reminds Chinese citizens in the Philippines to enhance their self-protection awareness:

1. Ensure personal safety

Avoid going to places where recent cases have occurred frequently and public security is unstable. When going out, try to travel in groups and reduce unnecessary nighttime outings.. Be highly vigilant when approaching or approaching strangers, avoid dining with strangers or going to sensitive places such as bars and dance halls, do not consume drinks, food, or cigarettes provided by strangers, and ensure that your food and drinks are always within sight when dining

Be vigilant when walking or staying outside to prevent suspicious individuals. Timely inform family members of the travel route, planning, and personal situation, and pay attention to keeping emergency contact information such as relatives and embassies. In case of robbery or other accidents, one should respond rationally and properly, ensuring personal safety as the top priority

2. Ensure the safety of property

Avoid showing off wealth in public places, and do not carry large amounts of cash or wear expensive jewelry or watches with you.. In crowded places, it is important to always take good care of personal belongings and raise awareness of theft prevention and robbery

Do not easily believe any "preferential exchange" information. If you need to exchange currency, please handle it through formal and legal channels such as banks. Do not take chances or seek convenience, otherwise not only can you be easily deceived, but you may also be suspected of participating in criminal activities such as money laundering and illegal buying and selling of foreign exchange

3. Ensure Document Security

Keep important travel documents such as passports safe and separate them from bank cards, cash, etc., and keep copies for future reference.. Once the documents are lost or stolen, immediately report to the police, keep relevant records and proof, and apply to our embassy or consulate for a replacement travel document. When a stranger calls and claims to have found a passport, they request a paid return at the agreed upon location within the specified time frame. We must remain vigilant and ensure our own safety
