According to Reuters on December 25th, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that it will extend the anti-dumping investigation period for brandy originating from the European Union

The Ministry of Commerce stated in a brief announcement that due to the complexity of the case, the investigation will be extended until April 5, 2025. This survey was launched on January 5th this year and was originally expected to be completed within a year

The Ministry of Commerce previously stated that in special circumstances, the investigation may be extended by six months

The Ministry of Commerce announced in October that it had made a preliminary ruling that imported brandy originating from the European Union was being dumped, posing a threat of substantial damage to the domestic brandy industry. The Ministry of Commerce has decided to implement temporary anti-dumping measures on brandy imported from the European Union, which has hit French brands such as Hennessy and Remy Martin

China's temporary anti-dumping measures require that if Chinese importers wish to import brandy from the EU, they must pay a deposit of nearly 40%, which increases the upfront cost of transporting brandy from the EU

Last year, the export value of French brandy to China reached 1.7 billion US dollars, accounting for 99% of China's imported brandy
