China accelerates the standardization of the AI industry

According to a report by EFE on December 13th, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the establishment of a technical committee responsible for the revision of industry standards in the field of artificial intelligence (AI)

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced in a statement that it has decided to establish an Artificial Intelligence Standardization Technical Committee, which is mainly responsible for the development and revision of industry standards in areas such as artificial intelligence evaluation and testing, operation and maintenance, datasets, basic hardware, software platforms, large models, application maturity, application development management, and artificial intelligence risks

The department also stated that the first Artificial Intelligence Standardization Technical Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was composed of 41 members, and the secretariat was undertaken by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology

China's artificial intelligence technology is rapidly integrating into emerging industries such as industrial production, AI driven humanoid robots, as well as products such as smartphones and automobiles. Chinese scholars say that the country's strength in the development of large-scale artificial intelligence models is constantly increasing

Many observers believe that factors such as accelerated technological innovation and growing demand in manufacturing, finance, and healthcare are driving the development of the artificial intelligence industry. Several Chinese companies have launched artificial intelligence applications internationally

Last July, China announced the "Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services" to regulate artificial intelligence generation services similar to ChatGPT; These services will also be subject to existing regulations on information security, personal data protection, intellectual property, and technological innovation

In December last year, the Supervision Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China issued the "Guidelines for Responsible Research Conduct (2023)", which proposed that generative artificial intelligence should not be used to directly generate application materials, and generative artificial intelligence should not be listed as co authors of research results. At the same time, it emphasized that researchers should integrate ethical requirements of science and technology into the entire process of research activities
