At 14:28:04 on May 12, 2008, an earthquake with magnitude 8.0 occurred about 11 km south of Yingxiu Town, Wenchuan county (31 ° n, 103 ° 24 'e), with a focal depth of 14 km. Yingxiu, once beautiful and prosperous, was almost razed to the ground.
The epicenter of the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake was located at the mouth of niumiangou, lianhuaxin and caijiagang village, Xuankou Town, above Baihua bridge in Yingxiu town. Wenchuan earthquake began to tear the earth from here. In the Wenchuan earthquake, 80% of the roads along the Duwen highway were damaged, more than 10 km of the road was completely covered by collapsed mountains, more than 50 bridges were damaged, 7 bridges collapsed completely and dozens of landslides occurred.
Among them, Baihua bridge, which is located at the junction of Yingxiu and Xuankou, broke its deck and damaged its piers. The 500 meter long bridge collapsed.
