Transportation in Panzhihua

By the end of 2018, Panzhihua had 3733.91 kilometers of grade roads and 195 kilometers of expressways. In the whole year, the highway passenger traffic volume was 20.79 million person times, the passenger turnover volume was 597.18 million person kilometers, the cargo transportation volume was 107.4 million tons, and the cargo turnover volume was 622.82 million tons per kilometer. The city has 262900 motor vehicles, including 181600 cars, 162200 private cars, 79000 motorcycles, 17400 operating vehicles and 1595 taxis.

By the end of 2018, Panzhihua had 181.6 km of railway operating mileage, 16 railway stations, 1.5472 million passengers and 20.4916 million tons of railway freight. The passenger turnover volume of waterway is 13.153 million person km, and that of waterway freight is 13.089 million ton km.

Panzhihua baoanying airport has opened four flight routes, namely Panzhihua Chengdu, Panzhihua Chongqing Beijing, Panzhihua Shenzhen and Panzhihua Wuhan Shanghai.

Panzhihua Chengdu route: Sichuan Airlines operates once a day and Air China operates once a day.

The route from Panzhihua to Chongqing to Beijing: Sichuan Airlines operates on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and July. Panzhihua Shenzhen route: Shenzhen Airlines operates once a day.

Panzhihua Wuhan Shanghai route: it was opened on December 22, 2016. China Eastern Airlines is in charge of the flight. The first month is a week, and after one month, it is planned to have one flight on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

On August 11, 2018, the route from Panzhihua to Xi'an was officially opened.

Railway

Main railway lines: Chengdu Kunming railway, double track Chengdu Kunming Railway (under construction), Dukou branch line of Chengdu Kunming Railway (Panzhihua Geliping)

It is planned that the zhaopan Lijiang railway from Panzhihua to Zhaotong, Yunnan, and the Yixi railway from Xichang to Yibin can be used to transport steel products to Yibin in the south of Sichuan Basin, and then through Yibin port.

The G5 Beijing Kunming Expressway from Chengdu to Panzhihua and Panzhihua to Kunming has been opened. Panzhihua is 614 kilometers away from Chengdu in the north. It takes less than 3 hours and more than 6 hours to drive to Xichang and Chengdu respectively; it takes only 2.5 hours and 3 hours to drive to Wuding and Kunming to 273 kilometers to Kunming.

Panzhihua section of Li pan expressway has been opened to traffic. The Panzhihua Dalian Expressway under construction will shorten the distance between Panzhihua and Northwest Yunnan.

Panzhihua City has perfect passenger stations and passenger lines, including three highway passenger stations, namely, the city bus passenger transport center, Yanbian county bus passenger station and Miyi County bus passenger station. It operates lines to Chongqing, Bazhong, Luzhou, Suining, Nanchong, Lijiang, Ruili, Shangri La, Tengchong and other large and medium-sized cities.
