Wuzhong Taihu Lake Tourist Area in Suzhou is located in the southwest corner of the paradise of Taihu Lake, covering an area of 21.5 square kilometers.

The tourist area takes Taihu Lake as the main line, including the ancient town of Taihu Lake, the hills of Taihu Lake and the natural villages of Taihu Lake. It includes the Dongshan scenic spot of Biluochun Township in China, the Dome Mountain scenic spot of "the First Wisdom Mountain in the World" and the Wangshan scenic spot of "the most beautiful mountain village in Suzhou", the National Wetland Park of Taihu Lake and the surrounding Taihu Park, etc. Eight scenic spots, such as Xishan scenic spot and Guangfu scenic spot, are the first "5A-level scenic spot" with the main line of "Taihu Lake" in China, which links the ancient town of Taihu Lake, the hills in the south of the Yangtze River, the ecological natural villages and the peninsula and other cultural elements.

Taihu Lake is the birthplace of Wu culture and the Natural Museum of history and culture. Ancient towns, villages, islands and other historical and cultural landscapes are just like pearls dotted between the mountains and rivers of Taihu Lake. The number and grade of them are the highest in the world.

In 1953, Xuan Tomb Hill Garrison and Rongzong, abbot of Sheng En Temple, were placed in this already very desolate ancestral temple to live in. After the renovation of Rongzong, Jinglou and Buddhist Pavilion were built, and then became Buddhist temples.

In 1982, Taihu Lake, in the name of Jiangsu Taihu Scenic Area, was approved by the State Council to be listed in the first batch of national scenic spots.

Since 2002, the quarry gate has been closed in Wuzhong District.

Since 2003, a large number of ecological wetlands have been constructed in Wuzhong District around Taihu Lake.

Since 2006, the region has invested more than 100 million yuan annually, which is dedicated to the dredging, levee consolidation and greening of the rivers in the Taihu Lake Basin.

Since 2008, Wuzhong District has launched the East Taihu Lake Regulation Project with a total investment of 2.48 billion yuan.

On January 20, 2014, the scenic spot was rated as the national AAAAA-level scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.

Suzhou Wuzhong Taihu Lake Tourist Area is located in the south of Jiangsu Province. It spans three cities: Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou. It contains many scenic spots. The main scenic spots are Xishan scenic spot and Dongshan scenic spot in Suzhou, Lihu scenic spot in Wuxi. The total area of the tourist area is 250 square kilometers.
