Sichuan Police College is the only full-time undergraduate college of political, legal and public security in Sichuan Province, which is sponsored by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and jointly managed by the Provincial Public Security Department and the Provincial Education Department according to their respective responsibilities. The school started in 1950 and established the Public Security School of the Public Security Department of the People's Administrative Office of Western Sichuan. In 2000, it established the Sichuan Police Officer College. In 2006, it established the Sichuan Police College. In 2011, it was approved as a pilot unit for training master's degree postgraduates of police specialty. In 2018, it was approved as the authorized unit for granting master's degree. Upgraded, the first police professional master's degree education, the first school with the right to grant master's degree, is in the forefront of Provincial Public Security Colleges in the country.

The main campus of the school is located in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, covering an area of 46.715 mu, with a total fixed assets of 452 million yuan and teaching equipment of 156 million yuan. It has 14 laboratories, training grounds and sports venues. It has 25 off-campus practical teaching bases and 940,000 books in the library. The campus is green and beautiful. It is a provincial gardening unit, the best civilized unit and the advanced school of provincial civilized campus. The school's Chengdu campus covers an area of 243.49 Mu and is expected to be fully operational in September 2019.

There are 5 391 undergraduates and 17 postgraduates, 527 faculty members, including 332 full-time teachers (37 full-time and senior titles, 90 Vice-Senior titles, 256 master's degree). Around the three first-level disciplines of public security science, public security technology and law, nine undergraduate majors are offered, including investigation, public security science, public security management, drug control, criminal science and technology, traffic management engineering, network security and law enforcement, fire control command and law. A national experimental teaching demonstration center and innovation of personnel training mode at provincial level are established. The experimental area, provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center, provincial key laboratories of universities and key professional training points of the Ministry of Public Security each have one, two provincial characteristic specialties, five provincial application-oriented demonstration specialties, three provincial outstanding engineers and outstanding legal personnel education and training plans, and three provincial social science federations and provinces. There are 5 research bases of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Ministry of Education. There are 2 national-level teaching teams, 3 provincial-level teaching teams, 12 excellent teachers and famous teachers at or above the provincial and ministerial levels.

With the aim of "founding loyal police soul, cultivating new police officers of the times and serving public security work", the school adheres to the idea of "building police by politics, running schools by law, strictly managing schools and developing with characteristics", carries out the basic task of "building morality and cultivating people, and cultivating police soul", and closely centers on the goal of "cultivating loyal guards of the Party and the people". We should adhere to the coordinated development of public security education, on-the-job police training and police science research, and strive to build high-level public security undergraduate colleges with distinct regional characteristics. In the past 70 years, more than 60,000 graduates have been trained and transported to public security organs and legal departments at all levels, and more than 8,700 heroes, models and meritorious officials have emerged. They are known as the cradle of police, the melting pot of heroes and the foundry of spirit. The school has won honorary titles such as the National Advanced Unit for the Creation of Spiritual Civilization, the National May 4th Red Banner League Committee, the Advanced Unit for Party Construction and Ideological and Political Work in Sichuan Province, the Model School of Ruling by Law in Sichuan Province, the First Prize for Higher Education Achievements in Sichuan Province, the First Prize for Teaching Achievements of the Ministry of Public Security, and the Huang Danian Team of Tea Number.
