Chengdu Leshan expressway, Leya expressway, Chengdu Zigong Luzhi expressway, Suining Zimei Expressway and pudanjing Expressway cross the city.

Meishan occupies an important traffic area at the South Gate of Chengdu, including Chengdu Leshan expressway, Chengdu Ya'an expressway, Chengdu Ziji Luzhou Expressway passing Renshou City, Leya Expressway passing through Hongya City, and Suizi Meishan Expressway under construction runs through the East and west of the city. National Highway 213 passes through Meishan City. The highway traffic in Meishan city is relatively developed. There are also passenger buses to (directly or through) Meishan City, Renshou County, Pengshan District, Qingshen county at shiyangchang bus station, Chengdu east station bus station and Chengdu Xinnanmen bus station. Meishan passenger transport center station is located next to Meishan east station of Chengdu Mianyang Leshan passenger dedicated line. It is the junction of the old urban area and the new urban area, and the entrance and exit of Chengdu Leshan expressway.

Meishan has two rivers (Minjiang River, Qingyi River), two beaches (Heilong beach, Caoyu Beach), and 29 tributaries. The waterway mileage is 768 km, including 89.72 km of grade waterway (78.7 km of Minjiang River level 6 channel and 11.02 km of level 7 channel) and 280 km of navigation mileage. There are 36 ferries and 420 ships of various types in the city, including 293 operating ships, 50 ship towns, 84 crew members, 3 water transport enterprises, 3 ferry stations and 2 shipyards.

Meishan is 60 kilometers away from Chengdu and 30 minutes' drive from Shuangliu International Airport. It is the throat and South Gate of Chengdu Plain connecting South Sichuan, Southwest Sichuan, West Sichuan and Yunnan. It has the same city, industry chain and basic network with Chengdu. There are three horizontal and four vertical railways for railways, three horizontal and five vertical expressways, four longitudinal and one horizontal trunk roads, four arrows at one time for urban trunk roads, Minjiang River channelization project connecting Chengdu port, and taking intercity railway passenger dedicated line to Chengdu is only 30 minutes.

By the end of 2019, a total of 29.79 million highway passenger trips and 1083.93 million passenger kilometers have been completed. The highway freight volume was 101.97 million tons, and the freight turnover volume was 7050.36 million tons per kilometer. The total turnover of passenger and freight transportation was 7158.75 million ton kilometers, an increase of 7.6%. At the end of the year, there were 885800 motor vehicles, including 23700 large-scale vehicles and 385200 small-sized vehicles. At the end of the year, there were 1835 new energy vehicles and 119 school buses.

There is no airport in Meishan, which is 40 kilometers away from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Railway

The Chengdu Mianyang Leshan Intercity Passenger Dedicated Line in Meishan has a mileage of 70.7 km, including three stations: Pengshan north station, Meishan east station and Qingshen station. Take the high-speed rail to Chengdu and Mianyang to the north and Leshan and Emei mountains to the south. Through the high-speed rail, it takes 33 minutes from Meishan east to Chengdu East passenger station, 20 minutes to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport Station and 20 minutes to Leshan.

The Chengdu Kunming Railway in Meishan passes through the north and south, passing through Pengshan district and Dongpo District. The length of the route is 50km. Eight trains pass through Meishan railway station. Take the train in Meishan, along the Chengdu Kunming railway, you can get to Chongqing and Xi'an from Chengdu in the north, and Kunming through Xichang and Panzhihua in the south. The address of Meishan station is the west section of Sansu Avenue, Dongpo District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province.

The double track of Chengdu Kunming Railway under construction will also set up stations in Meishan.

Lian Le railway will pass through Renshou County in the east of the city, connecting Chengdu port and Chengdu Kunming railway.
