In June 2008, Chamane declared by Alxa League of Mongolian Autonomous Region was listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list with the approval of the State Council.
historical origin
"Chama" (commonly known as "divine jumping" or "ghost beating") is the product of religious and cultural exchanges between Mongolia and Tibet. It has a history of 400 years since it was introduced into China in the second half of the sixteenth century along with the Gru (Yellow) Lamaism. And in the long-term evolution and development process, formed its own style. It is a mask dance with the content of telling religious stories.
Folk activities
Lamas wore chic hats, long dharmas, tall sandalwood and antique incense stoves at sacrifices. These beautiful points of view constitute a sacrificial lake scene with strong national characteristics. The chanting sound is deep and long, the sound of gongs and drums is slow and smooth, the recitation of fishing handles is high and full of rhythm, the three voices are in the ear, the level is clear, there is no sign of disorder. The Lama with yellow cap and red robe in his eyes will pierce your ears and drums with his chanting voice. His clothes are gorgeous. The Chama dance with a fierce face will jump into your eyes. The Gong and drum will naturally flow through your ears. Sometimes you will be attracted by a more special tone and rhythm, that is, the fisherman's head recites the sacrificial words.
