Gino Encouragement

Great encouragement, traditional dance in Jinghong City, Yunnan Province, is one of the national intangible cultural heritage.

Jino big drum, Jino language called "situ pot", "situ" for "big drum", "pot" for "jump", spread in Jinuo village of Jinuo Mountain Jinuo Township in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Jino people have their own creation myths and legends. They regard it as the "root spectrum" of their own nation. They worship and commemorate it in the form of songs, dances and festival ceremonies. They play the role of national history lessons, classes and textbooks. According to the myth and legend of the Jino people's "A Bo Yao Bai Made Heaven and Earth", their ancestors came from the big drum, so they regarded the big drum as a god.

On May 20, 2006, Jino Dagu was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, the heritage number: III-38.

historical origin

"Big Drum Encouragement" is called "Ergao" in Jino dialect. It was first called "Baila Pao Si Tu Song", "Baila Pao" is a wizard and "Si Tu" is the name of the village. According to folklore, Amai Yaobai, the ancestor of Jino nationality, built a big drum during the flood and famine period, which allowed Rye and Mai Niu to hide in the drum to avoid disaster. Since then, rye and maize have multiplied the descendants of the Jino people. Therefore, the Jinuo people dance big drums from generation to generation, so the Jinuo people dance big drums to thank the legendary use of big drums to save the Jinuo people's goddess of creation, Amu Yaobai, in memory of Amai Yaobai, and the big drum as a sacred thing for Zhuoba (Zhai Lao) home. The big drum started as a solo dance. Now the dance of "Ergao" is developed on the basis of "Situge".

After liberation, the Jinuo people moved from Zhuoba to Zhaichang. After being processed by the literary and artistic workers of the Great Drum Dance, it came to the stage and became a performing dance with the national characteristics of the Jino nationality.

On May 20, 2006, Jino was encouraged to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list approved by the State Council.

At present, only three elderly people over seventy years old can master the whole process of the drum dance ceremony and all the dance movements. They are in an extremely endangered situation and need to be protected urgently.

From April 2007 to the end of 2008, the Jino people's big drum encouragement established a cultural communication base, inheriting the Jino people's folk customs, etiquette, music, dance, traditional skills and so on. In 2018, Teacher He Guiying, the national-level inheritor of Jinuo inspiration, led by Jinuo Township Cultural Center, went deep into the Mao'e Xinzhai and Shao Niu village groups of the Gama Village Committee to carry out training, bringing this cultural feast to the grass-roots literary and art teams. In 2019, Jinghong Municipal Culture Museum and Jinuo Township Culture, Sports, Radio and Television Service Center jointly organized a two-day training course for the inheritors of big inspiration and drum songs. A total of 19 non-inheritance inheritors participated in the training.
