Beijing Sports University was founded in 1953, formerly known as the Central College of Physical Education, renamed Beijing Sports College in 1956 and Beijing Sports University in 1993. It is a national key university and a national key construction University of "211 Project". It has been successfully selected as the first batch of "two-class" construction universities in the country and has a glorious educational history. It enjoys a high reputation both at home and abroad and belongs to the State General Administration of Sports. The school is located in the information road of Haidian District. It covers 755,000 square meters and has a building area of about 450,000 square meters. It has nearly 100 indoor and outdoor training venues.

The school now has four departments, namely, the Department of Physical Education and Health, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Olympic Sports Department and the Department of Sports Engineering. The Department of Physical Education and Health consists of the College of Education, the College of Psychology, the College of Sports and Human Sciences, the College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, the College of Physical Training, the College of Wushu and Traditional Sports, and the Sports The Ministry of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of 8 colleges, namely, Marxist College, Management College, Sports Business College, Journalism and Communication College, International Sports Organization College (Foreign Language College), Art College, International Culture College and Continuing Education College (Winter Olympics Training College); and the Olympic Sports Department. It consists of Chinese Academy of Football, Chinese Basketball, Chinese Volleyball, Chinese Ice Hockey, Chinese Academy of Athletics, Chinese Academy of Athletics, Chinese Academy of Extreme Sports, Chinese Equestrian, Chinese Coaches and Sports. There are 11 affiliated colleges (schools) of competitive sports schools, and there are Sports Engineering Institutes under the Department of Sports Engineering. The Party School of the State General Administration of Sports of the Communist Party of China, the Cadre Training Center of the State General Administration of Sports and the Coach College of the State General Administration of Sports are located in the school.

The school has four key national disciplines, 13 key provincial and ministerial disciplines, two excellent key provincial and ministerial disciplines, five key provincial and ministerial laboratories of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Physical Training and Physical Function Recovery of the State Administration of Sports, one engineering research center of Beijing University and one other key provincial and ministerial laboratories. National experimental teaching demonstration center and two experimental teaching demonstration centers in Beijing universities. The library has more than 1.2 million books.

The school is based on undergraduate education and focuses on Graduate education. There are 27 undergraduate majors, including physical education, sports training, social sports guidance and management, sports human science, Wushu and traditional national sports, public utilities management, sports economy and management, journalism, advertising, applied psychology, English, performance, dance performance, sports rehabilitation, leisure sports and Chinese. Language International Education, Education, Economics, Network and New Media, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Tourism Management, Marxist Theory, Physical Training. The distribution of school disciplines involves nine disciplines: pedagogy, law, economics, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management and art. It has one national key discipline and one Beijing key secondary discipline. The overall level of the first three rounds of national discipline evaluation ranks first, and the fourth round of national discipline evaluation ranks A + level. The school has the right to grant doctoral degrees in the first-level disciplines of physical education and five first-level disciplines such as Marxist theory, pedagogy, psychology, clinical medicine and public administration, and three professional master's degrees in physical education, art and Journalism and communication, as well as postdoctoral research mobile stations in physical education.

There are more than 10,000 students at all levels, including 9,000 undergraduates and nearly 3,000 postgraduates. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has exceeded the average employment rate of universities in Beijing.

Economic and social development has made outstanding contributions, which have been fully affirmed by the Party and the state, the community and the international community. He has been awarded the honorary title of "Beijing Olympic Games, the Advanced Collective of Paralympic Games" by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, and the "Sports and Social Responsibility Award" by the International Olympic Committee. Three principals of the school, Zhong Shitong, Ma Qiwei and Jin Jichun, were awarded the IOC Silver Medal of the Olympic Movement, the Sports Learning and Research Award and the Sports and Education Award respectively.

The school has always been facing the major strategic needs of the country and the frontier of discipline development, presiding over more than 150 projects at the provincial and ministerial level, such as the National Science and Technology Support Project and the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund, and has won 28 awards at the provincial and ministerial level, such as the Second Prize for National Science and Technology Progress and the Outstanding Achievements Award of the Ministry of Education. Journal of Beijing Sports University is a core periodical of Chinese sports, a core periodical of Chinese humanities and social sciences, a source periodical of Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI), and a sponsored periodical of the National Social Science Fund. It is the only outstanding sci-tech periodical of Chinese universities that has been selected every year since 2012 as "China's most internationally influential academic periodical of mechanics". As one of the key units of Beijing's open visit after the founding of New China, Beijing Sports University is an important window to show the sports achievements of New China to the world. Since its establishment, the school has established inter-school relations with 123 foreign universities in 45 countries and regions around the world, and has trained more than 15,000 foreign students for 106 countries. Among them, Dr. Oleg Matytsin was elected president of the International University Sports Federation in 2015. Dr. Zlatko Matesa, former Prime Minister of Croatia and President of the Croatian Olympic Committee, was awarded successively, and honorary doctorates from eight international celebrities, including Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, and the International Skiing Federation were awarded. Chairman Gian Franco Kasper, President of the World Curling Federation Kate Caithness, President of the International Snowmobiles and Steel Frame Snowmobiles Federation Ivo Ferriani, Secretary-General of the International Skiing Federation Sarah Lewis and the International Basketball Federation Patrick Baumann, Secretary-General, Walter Mengisen, Deputy Director of Swiss Federal Sports Bureau, President of the Institute of Physical Education, and Hu Wenxin, Vice President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, are honorary professors. Relying on the international platform of running a school, the school coordinates the high-quality international educational resources, establishes a comprehensive international cooperation training mechanism from undergraduate to graduate students, and continuously improves the level of internationalization of personnel training.
