The Midui Glacier
The Midui Glacier is in the upper reaches of the Midui River. The Midui River is a secondary tributary of the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The Midui Glacier is close to the Sichuan-Tibet Highway with large scale and easy access. It is a typical representative of marine glaciers in southeastern Tibet. Its characteristics are typical and its type is complete. It is famous for its beautiful arched arc structure. It is a rare natural wonder. Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, villages, forests and other fusion together, is a model of harmony between man and nature, is a good place for tourism.
Midui Glacier is located in Yupu Township, Bomi County, 103 kilometers away from the county seat, 8 kilometers away from 318 National Highway, and the nearest village is only 2 kilometers away. It is the most important marine glacier in Tibet and the lowest elevation glacier in China. The main peak of the glacier is 6800 meters above sea level, and the snow line is only 4600 meters above sea level. The glacier is as clean as jade. Its scenery is beautiful, its shape is different, its beauty is intoxicating. At the bottom of the glacier is a mixed forest of coniferous and broad-leaved trees. The snow remains unchanged all the year round. The lush forest is evergreen all the year round. The head is covered with silver pads and the skirt is green. Because the temperature of the ice is warmer, ice worms, ice fleas and other kinds of microorganisms live all the year round. Influenced by the climate in the eastern Himalayan Mountains, the temperature at the tip of the Midoui Glacier is lower than that of the Bogduo Glacier at about 44 degrees north latitude, although it is located at 29 degrees north latitude.
