In 2019, the total amount of funds used for environmental protection capacity building and supervision and operation of Nanchong City is 14.1809 million yuan, including 2.4476 million yuan for monitoring capacity construction and 11.7333 million yuan for environmental supervision and operation guarantee. The municipal environmental protection department undertook 8 proposals from the National People's Congress and 6 proposals from the CPPCC. There are 15 air quality monitoring points, 7 acid rain monitoring points, 8 centralized drinking water source monitoring points and 269 environmental noise monitoring points. There are 186 key enterprises that carry out supervision and monitoring of pollution sources. The water quality at the exit section of Nanchong Section of the main stream of Jialing River reaches class II standard. The number of days with good air quality in the main urban area was 325 days, and the average value of regional environmental noise was 52.9 dB. The city carried out 25 social and environmental publicity and education activities with 4200 participants. In the whole year, the energy consumption of industries above the designated scale in 10000 yuan added value decreased by 7.6%.

On July 5, 2019, the Ministry of ecological environment of the people's Republic of China announced the special investigation of black and odorous water bodies in the first stage of overall planning and strengthening supervision in 2019. Nanchong was listed in the "list of cities whose black and odorous water body elimination ratio is less than 80%, with the elimination ratio of 66.7%.
