Neijiang City is mainly hilly, surrounded by low mountains in the southeast and southwest. About 90% of the hills are between 350 and 450 meters above sea level. The geological structure is a part of the Neocathaysian subsidence zone with small fold fault scale. The surface is composed of gentle purple sandstone. After long-term water erosion and cutting, it is mostly round and Ridge Hill like shallow hills; the valleys between hills are narrow, long and straight, and most of them are trapezoidal gentle slopes from the top of hills to the valleys, forming a grain field with layers of steps. The soil is mainly composed of sandy soil and red mud, which is good for the growth of crops. Land use has a long history, mainly cultivated land. Other land uses include garden, woodland, sparse forest and grassland, urban and rural land, residential land, industrial and mining land, water area and special land and some hard to use land.
