Chen Daming

Chen Daming, born in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, is a director, screenwriter and actor in mainland China. He graduated from the performance Department of Beijing Film Academy.

In 1987, he took part in his first film, stolen love. In 1990, he starred in the comedy film peering from the moon. In 1996, he was selected as the best supporting actor of Zhuhai International Film Festival for his drama "full moon Britain". In 1998, he wrote the film and literature script "over the mountain". In 2004, he directed his first film, jinggaier. In 2006, he wrote and directed a comedy film "chicken and dog are restless". With this film, he was shortlisted for the best screenwriter award of the 26th China Golden Rooster film award and won the best director award of the 9th Brasilia International Film Festival. In 2011, he directed the urban love movie I know women's heart. In 2019, he was the screenwriter of the action comedy noodle man: nowhere to hide.

Acting experience

In 1984, Chen Daming was admitted to the performance Department of Beijing Film Academy. In 1987, he took part in the rural film stolen love. In 1988, after graduating from the performance Department of Beijing Film Academy, he stayed as a teacher. In 1990, he starred in the comedy film peering from the moon. Later, he went to the United States to study screenwriting, directing and acting.

In 1996, he co starred with Chen Xiaoxuan and Liu linian in the plot film "full moon Britain", which won him the best supporting actor award at Zhuhai International Film Festival. In 1997, he returned to Beijing; in the same year, his comedy "Beverly Samurai" was released; in the same year, he took part in the drama "love in Xishuangbanna" directed by GE Xiaoying. In 1998, he co starred with Wu Dawei and Chen Xiangqi in the romantic comedy "summer emotions"; in the same year, he wrote the film literature script "over the mountains".

In 2003, he was the assistant director of the action movie Kill Bill, and in the same year, he acted in the emotional drama goodbye Vancouver directed by Zhao Baogang. In 2004, he took part in the action movie "Flying Eagle"; in the same year, he directed the plot movie "jinggaier", CO starring tranquility and sun Honglei.

In 2006, he wrote and directed a comedy film "chicken and dog are restless" co starred by Xu Fan, Li Yixiang and Wang Hongwei. The film tells the story of a group of Henan opera actors seeking a way out in the face of real problems such as career change and marriage crisis in the market downturn. He won the best screenplay award of the 26th Golden Rooster Award and won the best screenplay award of the 9th Brasilia International Film Festival Director Award.

In 2011, he directed the urban love movie "I know women's heart", a remake of the Hollywood comedy "man 100%", CO starring Andy Lau and Gong Li. In 2018, he was employed as artistic director of Shanghai Vancouver Film Academy, focusing on helping the performance major of Shanghai Vancouver Film Academy. In 2019, he wrote the action comedy noodle man: nowhere to hide, starring Donnie Yen.

In the film chicken and dog are restless, like many directors of the sixth generation, Chen Daming focuses on the marginal little people who are abandoned by the reality trend.
