Early experience

Basen was born in 1954 in a herdsman's family in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. His father was a folk artist, and his mother was a grassland singer. In 1965, he came to Inner Mongolia Art School (now Inner Mongolia University Art College) to study dance.
