Tian Haojiang

Tian Haojiang was born in Beijing and graduated from Beijing Central Conservatory of music in 1980. Tian Haojiang is a Chinese singer who has signed a contract with the Metropolitan Opera House for 19 years. He has performed more than 1400 times around the world and played more than 50 opera roles.

Tian Haojiang was born into a musical family in Beijing and used to be a worker in Beijing boiler factory.

He began to study vocal music in 1976 under the guidance of Mr. Fang yingxuan and Mr. Wang Zhenmin.

In 1977, he was admitted to the chorus class of the central Orchestra attached to the Central Conservatory of music. He was a student of Professor Han Dezhang and worked in the central Orchestra after graduation.

In 1980, he graduated from Beijing Central Conservatory of music with a special vocal music class of the central orchestra;

He went to the United States to study in 1983 and obtained a master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Denver in 1987;

In 1991, he was invited to perform at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

In March 2008, he won the University of Denver outstanding achievement award and was nominated for Grammy Award in the same year.

Tian Haojiang's main performances include: performing the French opera "general" with Domingo in Washington Opera House.

In the Metropolitan Opera House, he played count Walter, and in another "Norma" opera, he played alveso, and performed Verdi's "Aida" with Pavarotti.

In Genoa opera house in Italy, Tian Haojiang successfully played King Philip II in Verdi opera "Don Carlos".

In 1998, he played the leading role of the devil Mephisto in the opera "Faust" jointly produced by China and France in Shanghai, the first opera he performed in his motherland. He has also given solo concerts in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

In 2018, he participated in CCTV Spring Festival Gala.

In 2015, Tian Haojiang's performance schedule includes performing the Opera Aida in Beijing in cooperation with the commander Zubin meita, and the famous tenor Domingo to perform simonbocanella. Autobiography: Opera life

Tian Haojiang's English autobiography opera life, published by Wiley press, is officially released as a book series of Lincoln Center for performing arts in New York, and has been collected by more than 600 western libraries. The Chinese translation of the book is being planned for publication.

Achievement and honor

As a Chinese singer, Tian Haojiang enthusiastically introduced many excellent Chinese vocal music works to Western audiences and overseas Chinese at nearly 100 music lectures at home and abroad. Tian Haojiang is the most cooperative Asian singer with the world famous singers Pavarotti, Domingo, Kanawa, Milnes, Joan Anderson, EVA Matong, bruson, Remy and so on.

In 2014, Tian Haojiang was invited to be the artistic director of China's first ising! -- International Young Singers Festival, which was held in Suzhou cultural and Expo Center Grand Theater, founded by American Asian Performing Arts Center, and served as the image ambassador of China International Chorus Festival held in Beijing.

Tian Haojiang: from a boiler worker to a singer, he sang in the Metropolitan Opera House for 20 years

When more than a dozen foreign singers sing "the song of the Yangtze River" in Chinese, he can be seen standing in the middle of them with tears in his eyes.

Tian Haojiang was born in a musical family in Beijing in 1954. When he graduated from middle school, during the cultural revolution, he was assigned to Beijing boiler factory to become a sheet metal worker.

From 1983 to 1987, Tian spent more than three years to get his master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Denver. He said frankly that the learning process is longer than others, or even twice as long as others. Because my English is still very poor.

A boiler worker works hard all the way to a world-famous singer, and then to bring Chinese vocal music works to the international stage. Tian Haojiang sometimes thinks back to a period of time when he worked in the boiler factory and thinks about what he would be like if he didn't insist on studying abroad. "Maybe he is just like those workers I used to be. He gets four or five thousand yuan a month and lives a peaceful, simple and happy life." For the six and a half years of good youth in the boiler factory, Tian Haojiang never thought it was a waste. "No day is wasted.
