He is an international well-known director, winner of Palme d'Or in the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, Thai director abichabang, and Portuguese director Miguel gemmas, winner of Innovation Award in the 62nd Berlin Film Festival. In November 2013, he made the first feature film "break up, don't break up". His works, with a unique female perspective on the analysis of the current social typical phenomenon, are best at urban emotional drama with ups and downs of plot and delicate emotion. Breaking up without breaking up
Frankly speaking, I am a pessimist about love, although I am very willing to believe in the purity and beauty of love. "Say no break up" -- a beautiful oath, but how much uneasiness and mystery are hidden in it? Our original intention in making this film is to tell the story behind this oath. Whether it is humorous, or sweet, or even helpless... I just hope to use a relaxed (love light comedy) way to magnify the warm things in love, so that we can have more courage to love after watching the film, and at the same time, give those who are persistent in love a little bit of positive encouragement.
In the film, we will use a multilinear narrative to tell the story of three couples: Zhuo Xiaolin and kouzi, who still love each other after breaking up, hold hands again; Damiao and Jennifer, who love so hard but have to break up; and Duoduo and "shopkeeper", who break up every day and actually love each other. The love stories of these three couples can be found everywhere in our life. I believe every audience will feel that the story is like happening around them after watching the film.
I like to find stories in my life, which is my consistent writing habit. Almost all of the three couples in the film can find their archetypes in the life I have observed. Among them, Zhuo Xiaolin and Kou Zi are condensed into a story by refining, processing and adapting the stories of several couples. Damiao and Jennifer are from a friend's personal experience. They just make a lot of processing on the background of the characters. According to the needs of the plot, the story in the film is naturally more tortuous than that in real life, and the ending of the story is set to be semi open. The archetype of Duoduo and "shopkeeper" is the husband and wife stall owner of a spicy hot shop I often patronize. Based on the whole process of creation, the film will show a strong sense of life. The characters' lines are not only full of life, but also full of young people's perception of love and life philosophy. In the design of the plot, the differences of the identity background of the characters in the three stories are intertwined, which not only has a natural and subtle relationship with each other, but also is relatively independent in the story, making the film more visible and more bright. Zhuo Xiaolin and kouzi's "literary youth" love, Damiao and Jennifer's "sister and brother love" and Duoduo and the "shopkeeper" are plain and true. These three love patterns with different styles will let different audiences see their own empathy stories as far as possible.
