Character experience

1991-1992 chairman of the IEEE Computer Society Hong Kong division. 1992-1999 head of the Department of electronic calculators, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. from 1995 to 2006, he was the chair professor of the Department. In 2005, he was the chairman of IEEE SMC society in Hong Kong. He was also a member of IEEE Transactions on neural networks and IEEE Transactions on SMC (Part B), a famous international academic and Engineering Journal. He was also the chairman of the International Conference on machine learning and cybernetics held in China every year (since 2002).

Research direction

Academic research includes neural network sensitivity analysis, web data mining, machine learning, fuzzy system, network security, etc.

Main contributions

More than 160 published works have been published in different international famous academic and engineering journals: neural computing, IEEE transactions on fuzzy systems, IEEE Transactions on neural networks, IEEE Transactions on signal processing, IEEE transactions on system, man and cybernetics, pattern recognition, neurocomputing, IEEETransactionsonPatternAnalysisand MachineIntelligence.
